Cobb is letting Markham know that hre recieved a call from Miss Dannel turned over the annuity bond and other papers in this case. He and Mr. Wardwell will be glad to assist in anyway they can in this matter. He wanted Markham to know he recieved a copy of "The Shoes of Happiness". A check was enclosed from Markham to Anderson for $75.00.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
